Ricardo Mexia is an epidemiologist and public health doctor, and is also a PSD activist. To the journalists, the doctor said that he wants to align on a “change project” to “change the socialist leadership that is in sharp decline”.
Carlos Moedas stressed that the objective is to do “different politics” and to do different is to involve “outsiders who want to change the way of doing politics”. “I always said that if this campaign was done it was to be different, it was to take risks”, he underlined, adding that “Ricardo Mexia is a PSD activist but his life goes beyond that”.
Carlos Moedas spoke alongside the campaign director on the side, as well as the leaders of the district and council of PSD Lisboa, Ângelo Pereira and Luís Newton. Christian Democrat Filipe Anacoreta Correia, who negotiated the entire coalition process for the centrists and who is expected to be number two on the list, was also present. However, Moedas said nothing about this: “Everything in due time”. The coalition is closed but the names that will make up the list have not yet been presented.
The poster, which is similar to the usual Liberal Initiative posters (made by the same agency, Mosca), has a blue color in the background and the following message: “Lisbon can be much more than you think”. It has no party symbols or any allusion to the PSD and CDS. This is explained, according to Moedas, because it was done at an early stage when the coalition was not yet closed. It will not always be so, he assured.
Ricardo Mexia has been President of the National Association of Public Health Doctors since 2016, and is currently a member of the Epidemiology Department of the National Institute of Health Doctor Ricardo Jorge, having been a constant media presence in the last year due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
