The number of cases reported today is the highest since March 6 (1,007) and translates an increase of 125% compared to 388 infections confirmed a week ago.
As regards deaths related to the new coronavirus, the following were confirmed: 2 more fatalities – the lowest value since March 30 – after the 6 reported on Monday.
The number of cases accumulated since the beginning of the pandemic rose to 824,368 while deaths increased to a total of 16,887.
With the figures known this Monday, the daily average of new cases from the last seven days it rose to 466, the highest number since March 23.
On a more positive note, the DGS report notes that there are now over 894 recovered from the disease, for a total of 781,537.
Thus, the active cases, which are calculated by subtracting recovered patients and deaths from the total number of confirmed cases, dropped in 22, for 25,944.

After two days of increases, the number of patients admitted with covid-19 decreased again.
There are now 32 fewer people, for a total of 504, the lowest number since 19 September (497).
With regard to the most serious cases, of patients admitted to intensive care units, there is one more person, who brings the total to 113.
LVT with 36% of cases and 2 deaths
The two fatalities confirmed in the last 24 hours were in Lisbon and Vale do Tejo, where 317 new cases were identified, 36% of the country’s total. The North followed, with 273 new cases, the Center with 140, Alentejo with 57, the Azores with 37, Madeira with 32 and the Algarve with 18.
