This Monday, Portugal registers six more deaths and 159 new cases of covid-19, according to the latest epidemiological bulletin from the Directorate-General for Health (DGS).
The deaths occurred in the regions of Lisbon (2), Center (2) and North (2). The Algarve emerges as the third region with the most daily cases, with 20.1% of the total (32), behind Lisbon (40.9%) and the North (27.7%).
The number of hospitalizations rose again for the second consecutive day, this time with 19 more patients in wards, for a total of 536. Patients in intensive care keep the downward trend, with five fewer, with 112 now.
Also rising is the Rt, the transmissibility index, which is now 0.98 nationally, reaching 1 in mainland Portugal only. The incidence is already falling, with 62.8 cases of infection per 100,000 inhabitants in the country.
Portugal is currently below 26,000 active cases, with 168 fewer. Suspicious cases are also falling (-32), but there are, however, close to 16,000 people in surveillance contacts with health authorities.
A further 321 patients recovered in the last 24 hours, bringing the total to 780,643.
Since the beginning of the pandemic, 16,885 patients out of the 823,494 infected have died.
According to the DGS, 1,834,825 Portuguese have already been vaccinated: 1,282,956 with the first dose and 551,869 with the second, the latter having completed the vaccination process.
