Local authorities decided on Sunday to anticipate the curfew by one hour, from 8 pm to 7 pm, to apply confinement at the weekend and to close bars, restaurants, cinemas, swimming pools, places of worship and public places. In addition, meetings with more than four people are prohibited.
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi tries to avoid national confinement, like that of March 2020, which has had catastrophic consequences for the poorest.
India has so far administered 80 million doses of covid-19 vaccines.
