Covid-19: four more deaths and 193 new cases in Portugal

This Sunday, Portugal registers four more deaths and 193 new cases of covid-19, according to the latest epidemiological bulletin from the Directorate-General for Health (DGS).

Since August 25, the number of new cases has not been so low.

In the last 24 hours, hospitalizations have gone up again, with five more patients in wards, to a total of 517. In intensive care, the downward trend continues, with less nine patients in the ICU (there are now 117).

Lisbon remains the most affected region, with 75% of daily deaths (3) and 57.5% of new cases (111). This is followed by the North, with 25% of deaths (1) and 15.5% of daily infections (30).

At the moment, the country has 26,134 active cases, 160 less than on Saturday. There are also 131 fewer suspected cases, but there are 15,960 people in surveillance contacts with health authorities.

A further 349 patients recovered from the disease, bringing the total to 780,322 recoveries.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, 16,879 patients out of the 823,335 infected have died.
