In recent months, many brands have unveiled their anti-Toro designs. Now it is Fiat’s turn to respond to these attacks. Very soon, the Italian brand of Stellantis – the largest car manufacturer in Brazil – will reveal the new Toro 2022. But there was no need to wait and the secret was leaked. For this reason, we have already presented here the “face” of the new Toro 2022, in a rendering made by Brazilian designer Renato Aspromonte.
A photo of the front of the new Toro 2022 was leaked on the internet through the profile of Pernambuco journalist Jorge Moraes on Instagram. Fiat manufactures Toro in Goiana (PE), a city located between Recife and João Pessoa. The photo shows the front grille of the new Toro 2022 wider than it is today. The optical set continues to be divided, with a very thin upper part, which is striking at Toro.
It is a division into three levels. At the top are the daytime running lights and direction arrows, which can be led in some versions. In the central part are the headlights, which may also have new technology. At the bottom are the fog lights. In addition to the shape of the grille, the bumper has also changed and the logo is the new Fiat in script format, more modern.
“The design was more conservative than we expected,” commented Renato Aspromonte, who has published several works on the OverboostBR profile on Instagram. Anyway, what is not seen is also interesting. The new Toro 2022 is expected to be the first Fiat car to use the unprecedented 1.3 turbo engine of 180 hp and 270 Nm (with gasoline), which will equip the new Jeep Compass and Jeep’s unprecedented 7-seater SUV. The 1.3 turbo engine should replace the current 1.8 aspirated from Toro.
Inside, there will also be news. Whoever published a leaked photo was Jonathan Machado, on his Motor Drive profile, on Instagram. You can clearly see that the new Toro 2022 will adopt a new multimedia center with a huge central display fixed in an upright position. It is a solution adopted by Volvo, but it is not unanimous, as it makes the reading vertical and not horizontal, which is more comfortable for the eyes and, therefore, safer.
Fiat did not comment on the leaks. But, of course, he was attentive to the movements of all the models that applied to be the anti-Toro from this year: new Chevrolet Montana, Ford Maverick, Volkswagen Tarok and Hyundai Santa Cruz. For now, only Fiat Toro and Renault Oroch compete for the interesting category of compact monobloc pickups derived from SUVs. Toro led in 2020 with 53,974 sales, followed by Oroch with 6,070 by far.
