Problem with Carrefour website causes products to be sold at much lower prices

Who wouldn’t want to buy a Samsung Galaxy S20, which is usually found for something in the range of R $ 4,440, for only R $ 419.90? But no, the manager didn’t go crazy. In reality, the Carrefour website faced a problem in the early hours of Thursday (1st) and some products were being sold at prices well below normal.

Regarding the failure, Carrefour said only that it is investigating the problem and will comment as soon as it has more information about what happened. But many consumers took advantage of the “discounts” to make purchases on the platform. The company did not say whether it intends to deliver the purchased products at the wrong price.

Just to give you an idea, in addition to the top-of-the-line smartphone, it had a 43-inch television for R $ 400 and a washing machine for R $ 300. On Twitter, the subject was on the rise and many users even thought it was something kind of April 1st prank.

Carrefour website problem

Procon of São Paulo notified Carrefour after the problem on the website. The agency said it wants to understand the conditions of the error and assesses what clarifications the company needs to give to customers.

“Carrefour must also clarify whether the offers are not subject to fulfillment and, if not, how consumers were informed, what clarifications were provided, and finally, what service channels were made available to consumers,” says a note released by Procon .

According to the agency, everything depends on the value of the discounts. If they are something conventional, in the range of 50% and already applied in other promotions, the company will have to fulfill the sale. If a very large number of products are found to be sold, at a very cheap price and in an amount that makes delivery impossible, Carrefour may be able to cancel these sales made while the site was in trouble.
