Manuel Fona Vieira, 55, from Montijo, is the new lawyer for Rosa Grilo, sentenced to 25 years in prison for the murder, in 2018, of her husband, triathlete Luís Miguel Grilo. “I will shed my blood in defense of the truth. I love justice as a virtue and the north of my profession, I have always sought the truth in deeds and tests,” he said this Saturday to the CM, confirming that he is the widow’s new lawyer. Rosa Grilo was defended by lawyer Tânia Reis and consultant João de Sousa (ex-PJ who served time in prison for corruption).
Both left that defense last week, after they were accused by the Public Ministry of simulation of crime for having ‘planted’ a bullet and a wrapper in the house of the crime, in an attempt to discredit the investigation of the PJ. Rosa Grilo was sentenced to 25 years in the court of Loures, in the Relação de Lisboa and, recently, in the Supreme Court. He allegedly committed the crime in order to have access to 500 thousand euros in insurance and deposits from Luís Miguel Grilo. According to Relação and Supremo, the crime was committed with his lover, António Joaquim, who was also sentenced to the maximum sentence.
