Armed Forces to support vaccination campaign against Covid in Brazil

Measure is part of accelerating immunization and reaching the goal of vaccinating 1 million people a day

The Armed Forces will support the vaccination campaign against Covid-19 to accelerate the immunization program. The measure was discussed by President Jair Bolsonaro with the ministers of Health, Marcelo Queiroga, and of Defense, Braga Neto.

There is still no plan formulated, said Queiroga, but stressed that the inclusion of the Armed Forces in the campaign should happen with the availability of more vaccines. “Brazil has already advanced a lot in vaccination, we want to expand”.

The minister again said that the goal is to vaccinate at least 1 million people against Covid-19 in Brazil per day. “For this, Butantan and Fiocruz will ensure 30 million doses in the month”, said Queiroga.

The minister met virtually with the director general of the World Health Organization (WHO) Tedros Adhanom to discuss ways of cooperation in combating the pandemic in Brazil.
