Today (03.04), completes a year in which Mato Grosso registered its first fatal victim of Covid-19, the supermarket manager, Luiz Nunes, 54 years old.

Hypertensive and diabetic, Nunes was a resident of Lucas do Rio Verde (346 km from Cuiabá). He was diagnosed on March 29, 2020 with the virus, after returning from a trip through the southern region of Brazil. He was admitted to an Intensive Care Unit (ICU) with acute respiratory syndrome and after five days of hospitalization, he did not resist the virus and died.

This Saturday, a year after the first death of a patient infected with Covid-19 in the state, Mato Grosso registers, according to the epidemiological bulletin of the State Department of Health, 7849 deaths due to complications of the new coronavirus.

From the day of the first death, April 3, 2020, until December 31, 2020, Mato Grosso lost 4550 lives to Covid-19.

From January 1, 2021 to today – April 3, 2021 – the State recorded 3,299 deaths. In the last 24 hours alone, 84 deaths due to complications from Covid-19 were recorded.
