Images of the surroundings of the Congress were published on social networks. “Great police presence and two stretchers being removed”, said Fox News journalist Jacqui Heinrich.
“A helicopter landed on the eastern front of the Capitol. I’ve never seen anything like this before ”, said CNBC journalist Jake Sherman.
According to the American broadcaster CNN, the suspect got out of the car with a knife after colliding with a barricade. He reportedly stabbed an officer and the Capitol police responded by shooting.
On January 6, the Capitol was invaded by supporters of Donald Trump. The violent demonstration left 5 dead, and occurred while the Senate was counting the votes to certify the victory of candidate Joe Biden. The session that would confirm Biden’s victory was suspended, and the venue lockdown immediate.
