Bolsonaro praised Braga Netto, stressing that the general has 45 years in the army. The president did not explain the reasons for the choice. He said: “Only we, basically, know the reason for all this and died here, I don’t have to discuss anything.”
Bolsonaro also thanked the commanders of the Army, Navy and Air Force, who are stepping down. And he said that Braga Netto chose the new commanders according to the military tradition of antiquity, so that none of the three had entered the Armed Forces before the minister.
Finally, Bolsonaro stated that he always acts within the “four lines” of the Constitution.
The Workers’ Party said that party governments have always treated the Armed Forces as state institutions, creating the best conditions for them to fulfill their constitutional role.
