Without masks, 200 medical students chop beer on the beach in Argentina

About 200 medical students gathered on a beach in Rosario, Argentina, this Wednesday, the 31st, without wearing masks, nor respecting social distance.

According to the local press, the case caused enormous indignation among Internet users, even more because it involved students from a course in the Health area, who should know the measures to prevent the coronavirus from spreading.

Images of the party circulated on alcohol circulated on the internet, as shown in the video below:

The newspaper “Clarín” reported that the case was repudiated by Mayor Pablo Javkin, who plans to open an investigation to see how the party was organized without any compliance with sanitary measures.

“Especially from a student body linked to health, this is where it is least expected. It is necessary to take these facts not only to be indignant, which is appropriate, but to understand what should not be done ”, said the mayor.

The chopada held this Wednesday is a traditional event for medical graduates when they are starting the last semester.

According to the newspaper “La Capital”, the dean of the School of Medicine of the National University of Rosario, Jorge Molinas, intends to “talk” with the students who participated in the party, locally called “bajada” which, in this context, can be translated as “chopada”. Molinas, who learned about the event, which took place on Wednesday, through social media posts, said that their attitude did not match the health protocols adopted in the Covid-19 pandemic.

“We are going to find out what it is about, more precisely, to talk to them. We are concerned and we want to check it out, ”said the rector to the” Todos en la Ocho “program.

To enter the beach where the event took place you must pay a fee and, on the spot, it is forbidden to consume alcoholic beverages. For this reason, those responsible for the region believe that the bottles were taken on a clandestine path, to mislead the watchmen Arriving in small groups little by little, the students had a party between 2pm and 6pm (local time). Finally, the agglomeration was dispersed with support from the Urban Guard.

Molinas recalled when part of the historic building of Medicine deteriorated during the 2019 draft. The measure taken by the institution was to promote a donation of books to defray the expenses of the renovation.

The rector said that the face-to-face classes were resumed recently, as long as each room had a maximum of six students. At the institution, the rules for wearing a mask and respecting social distance remain in effect.
