“If everything goes well, this Thursday the Council of Ministers will be able to confirm that next Monday the country will take new steps in the lack of definition”, Prime Minister António Costa said on Wednesday, specifying that the easing of measures scheduled for April 5 should be approved.

The plan presented on March 11 foresees as of Monday the reopening of schools of the 2nd and 3rd cycles, of social facilities in the area of ​​disability; museums, monuments, palaces, art galleries and the like; stores up to 200 m2 with a door to the street; fairs and non-food markets, depending on municipal decision; of terraces; gyms without group classes; low-risk sports and physical activity outdoors for up to four people.

“We are in a good moment of pandemic control. The number of cases has been decreasing, the number of inpatients in intensive care has been decreasing, the number of deaths has been decreasing and we are already executing our program of defibrillation a dropper “, declared the prime minister.
Last Thursday, the President of the Republic, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, decreed the renewal of the state of emergency, after the necessary authorization from the Assembly of the Republic, having subsequently signed the Government decree that regulates it.

Under the state of emergency, the Government imposed a general duty of home collection and the closure of a set of activities, establishments and services, since January 15.

A reopening of activities began on March 15, through crèches, pre-school education and the first cycle of basic education, commerce to the wicket and esthetic establishments, such as hairdressers.

The Government’s deconfination plan foresees new phases of reopening on 5, 19 April and 3 May, but the measures can be reviewed if Portugal exceeds 120 new cases of infection with the new coronavirus per 100 thousand inhabitants in 14 days, or if the transmissibility index (Rt) of the SARS-CoV-2 virus exceeds 1.

Travel between municipalities for most of the population will remain prohibited on weekends and throughout the current week, until April 5, to cover the Easter period, and the duty of home collection will also apply until then.
