Europe must follow US economic stimulus ambition, says France

A Europe must accompany the ambition that USA are demonstrating with their huge new economic stimulus, French Finance Minister Bruno Le Maire said on Thursday.

The new government of the President of the USA, Joe Biden, is already making payments to households under a new aid package in response to Covid-19 $ 1.9 trillion and plans to invest $ 2.3 trillion in infrastructure to stimulate greater economy of the world.

“Regardless of what we may think about it, the US stimulus plan shows ambition, and the return of America’s ambition is a good thing,” said Le Maire in a speech at the Geneva Graduate Institute.

“The best response to America’s ambition is not to fight it. It is to match. Europe needs to challenge itself as America is doing, ”he added.
