A variant B.117 of the new coronavirus, registered for the first time in the United Kingdom, poses a threat to the control of pandemic us United States and already corresponds to about 26% of the virus circulation in the country, according to the director of the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Rochelle Walensky, during the press conference of the task force of White House in combating pandemic.

Walensky said that the British variant is already predominant in at least five regions of the USA, and strain cases will increase if Americans fail to comply with the security measures imposed to mitigate the transmission of sars-cov-2.

Based on data from the CDC, Walesnky reported that the average of new infections in USA in the last seven days it registered an increase of 11.9% in relation to the previous seven days, going from 55,153 cases to 61,741 cases every 24 hours. Hospital admissions for covid-19 increased by 6.1% in the period, while deaths from the disease fell by 3.0% during the interval.
