police to patrol car and passenger help to give birth

Two police officers from a highway patrol in the Orlando area, Florida, stopped a high-speed SUV vehicle on March 31 and discovered that the car was carrying a pregnant passenger about to give birth.

The pair of officers was informed of the situation by the hurried driver of the vehicle. The woman’s contractions occurred after about five minutes, according to ABC12.

The police then tried to help the pregnant woman by placing a blanket in a grassy area beside the road, while waiting for paramedics who could deliver the baby to arrive.

However, the baby did not wait for the ambulance and was born right there, on the side of the road. The father took the newborn in his arms, handing it to one of the officers, who patted the little girl on the back in order to check the strength of her lungs.

The baby was taken with the mother to a nearby hospital. They went to the maternity hospital to accompany them, the father and the older sister of the newborn, who was also in the car when everything happened.

Both the mother and the baby are healthy and the police have chosen not to impose any speeding tickets, according to the WHP-TV station.
