Monster Hunter Rise, the latest feature in Capcom’s popular game series, continues its strong start after its launch on March 26. According to the developer, five million copies of the game have now been sent out, up from four million five days ago.
In a press release, Capcom writes that the numbers are a result of the positive reception of the game’s two demos, which came out a few weeks before launch.
As of 31 December 2020, the series had sold a total of 66 million copies, and with the Monster Hunter Rise launch, that number has probably reached 70 million. Monster Hunter: World from 2018 is still at the top with its 16.8 million sales.
Superb monster hunt
Monster Hunter Rise follows the well-established template from its predecessors, with perpetual hunting of beasts in all varieties and sizes. As usual, there are also some additions to track, including brand new monsters and the ability to ride giant dogs or swing between so-called wirebugs to get faster from place to place.
Our reviewer was impressed by his time with the game, and clinked with 9 out of 10 on the rating scale. Especially the multiplayer mode got a lot of praise, where Capcom has made several improvements since the previous game in the series.
– You will have a lot of fun if you play alone, with strangers or have a small group to travel with, but it is definitely in the multiplayer mode Monster Hunter Rise is at its best. Fighting together against these wild creatures is intense and wonderful, and when you can collectively use your unique qualities to kill a beast, it is a fantastic feeling, wrote Øystein Furevik.
Monster Hunter Rise is currently only available on the Nintendo Switch, but will arrive on PC in early 2022.
A new Switch model is supposed to be released towards the end of the year.
