In a meeting just ended, the President of the Court of Justice of Minas Gerais (TJMG), Gilson Soares Lemes; the secretary of state government, Mateus Simes; the attorney general of the State, Srgio Pessoa; and the assistant attorney general of Justia, Carlos Andr Bittencourt; plus state deputy Bruno Engler (PRTB-MG), reached an agreement to suspend the curfew across the state and allow family reunions from Monday evening (04/05). The decision is valid until Wednesday (07/04) when there is another meeting of the COVID-19 Coping Committee in the state.
“We have achieved an important decision of power. As of today, two measures are suspended: the curfew and the ban on social visits at home. Governor Romeu Zema promised us that they will seek to revoke these two measures within the committee ”, explains Gilson Soares Lemes in an interview with State of Minas, right after the meeting that took place at 15h this Monday.According to Soares Lemes, the purple wave took away the “right to come and go from the citizen”. The curfew was in effect between 8 pm and 5 am.
He considered the decision a victory and called the actions of the state government “unconstitutional”.
“As soon as the government joined the purple wave, we started a popular action,” he posted.

To State of Minas, the Secretary-General of the State, Mateus Simes, said that the suspension of the curfew and the ban on social visits was strategic. According to Simes, there was a risk that an injunction would be granted and that would put the continuity of the Minas Consciente program in check, as well as the Roxa wave, the most restrictive of the plan.
“We do not want to run the risk of an injunction suspending a program due to a possible unconstitutionality in two devices. We consulted the State Health Secretariat and understood that these two devices, in isolation, would not bring any health risk if they were readjusted,” he explained. the secretary.
Still according to Mateus Simes, the definition of the change of the two points of the deliberation will happen on Wednesday through a vote among the members of the COVID-19 Coping Committee. The expectation is that the change will be approved, considering that the trade will remain closed after 8 pm, undermining possible agglomeration sites.
“As commercial establishments continue to be closed at 8 pm – even those that are allowed to open -, we are sure that there will be no agglomeration with the release of the traffic of people, as they have nowhere to agglomerate, as the trade will be closed, “he concluded.
With the suspension on Monday, the inspection and tax for only the two rules are null. If the text change is approved on Wednesday, the measure will take effect immediately.
