Iranian diplomacy spokesman Said Khatibzadeh, during a press conference, has also said that the meeting will not really be to negotiate the terms of the agreement.
“The question of whether the meeting will produce results or not depends on the ability of Europeans to remind the United States of its commitments and to fulfill those commitments,” said the spokesman.
The departure of Americans from the nuclear deal in 2018, by then President Donald Trump’s determination, alleging Tehran’s lack of compliance, led to the return of U.S. economic sanctions.
The new American President, Joe Biden, promised the return of the United States to the agreement, but made it a condition that Iran fulfills its commitments, limiting its nuclear program.
For its part, Iran has already said that it will only limit its nuclear program if the United States withdraws the sanctions that have been applied in the meantime.
“One measure is enough for us. And that measure is the lifting of all US sanctions,” the Iranian diplomacy spokesman said today.
