New streaming platform for the 60 million Hispanics in the USA – Meios & Publicidade

The television network Univisión launched in the United States, last week, the streaming platform PrendeTV, with 40 channels and 30,000 hours of on-demand programming aimed at Spanish-speaking audiences. The platform offers films, series, soap operas, entertainment and sports programs and children’s content. The contents are free since the business model is based on advertising.

According to Univisión, the company holds 60 percent of the country’s advertising market share aimed at the Hispanic population. There are about 60 million people of Hispanic origin in the USA, with Spanish being the second most spoken language.

“The launch of PrendeTV initiates a new phase of expansion of our dominant position in the dissemination of content over the internet to US Hispanics and to the video on demand market with advertising, in order to build our leadership as the largest content company and Spanish-language media in the USA, ”said those responsible for the new platform.
