US claims 165 million doses of Covid-19 vaccine

The United States’ Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reported that the country had applied more than 165 million doses of vaccine against Covid-19 as of Sunday morning (4). Number represents an increase of 4 million people immunized in 24 hours.

Among the total vaccinees, the agency stated that 106.21 million of them received the first dose of the vaccine, while 61.41 million took the second dose and are fully immunized.

The United States CDC includes both the use of vaccines that require two doses, such as Moderna and Pfizer / BioNTech, and the Johnson & Johnson single-dose immunizer.

Johnson & Johnson vaccine batch fails test

More than 15 million units of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine could be destroyed after failing a test, The New York Times reported. The immunizer produced at a plant in Baltimore, in the United States, “did not meet the quality standards”.

According to the report, an outsourced company hired to help with production ended up mixing material from Johnson & Johnson and Oxofrd / AstraZeneca vaccines. Because of this, it will be necessary to dispose of the product, since the vaccine cannot be applied under these conditions.
